VụnArt is
a social initiative
Tales of love, harmony, and hope for a greater future are embedded within every creation at VụnArt. Together, we forge a bridge connecting expressive art forms and the individual, where the wider public not only appreciates our art for its aesthetic value but also the stories behind fabric pieces of all sizes. VụnArt is a testament to how small ideas and actions can become brilliant flames when kindled with love and determination, contributing to a more compassionate and altruistic society.

To collaborate with the Van Phuc Silk Village Association in promoting Van Phuc silk products and showcasing the cultural values of Vietnamese and global folk traditions.

To reuse fabric scraps, particularly Van Phuc silk, and, with the skillful hands, diligence, and creativity of people with disabilities, create unique, colorful, and artistic products.
Translating traditional painting art to fabric canvas remains faithful to the original while embracing creative expressions aligned with contemporary aesthetic values.
Organize guidance and vocational training in fabric collage art for people with special needs in collaboration with leading Vietnamese artists. Fabric paintings serve as a bridge, enabling them to collaborate with disabled craftsmen to bring the traditional cultural values of Vietnam “back to life.”
The materials for these collage paintings are discarded fabric scraps from tailoring shops. Utilizing these fabrics with precision, persistence, and creativity, our special needs artisans produce art pieces rich in culture and national identity.
A Journey Borne of Aspirations
VỤN Art’s entrepreneurial journey was kickstarted in hopes of bringing stable employment and sustainability to special needs workers. With unwavering determination, our founding team has transformed seemingly discarded pieces of fabric into distinctive works of art. VỤN Art’s story is one of overcoming many challenges to establish a business model that is both innovative and community-focused.
“When Scraps Speak”
The scheme to repurpose fabric scraps into handicrafts began in 2018, driven by the desire to reduce waste and protect our environment. In the beginning, the founding team sought support from experts and friends to experiment with various novel techniques, including the adhesive and printing methods of Japan. From art paintings, our product range soon expanded to practical items such as bags, purses, and T-shirts.

Doubling Down on Realizing Our Mission
In the initial phase of our project, we recruited 10 people with special needs as members of our team. However, only 2 remained after the first challenging three months. Through determination and constant innovation, our team expanded the production model and developed a wide range of products from fabric scraps. VỤN Art has established our position in the market through improvements in product quality with techniques such as non-peeling washing. At the same time, though members lacked formal training, we continually supported one another.

Early Struggles
The project faced marked struggles in its early stages, from lack of funding to difficulties in recruiting and retaining special needs craftsmen. Initially, the team recruited 10 people, but only 2 remained after three months. The need to select and implement suitable techniques to ensure quality hindered product development. Limited experience in management and organization added further difficulties. Despite these obstacles, our team persisted each step of the way, untangling the threads one by one as we marched on.

The Founding of VỤN Art and the Meaning Behind Our Name
The name “VỤN Art” was chosen to reflect the mission of repurposing fabric scraps into craftwork. Amongst other things, “VỤN” also represents our special needs craftsmen, those who continually overcome challenges to participate in the creative development process. Our name not only embodies our will to recycle and protect the environment, but it also emphasizes the importance of individuals within our community.

VỤN Art’s journey reflects the process of prevailing over shortcomings and finding the right path to create products from fabric scraps. The project has gradually developed an innovative and sustainable production model that embodies social value.
